
Tom Sell, Alpine Program Director Tom brings more than 25 years of experience to KMS. He returned to KMS in 2009 after working with the US Ski Team where he was Men’s World Cup SL and GS Coach before taking over as Men’s Development Team Head Coach, then moving to the Europa Cup Team as Head Tech Coach. Tom was the Men’s Head Coach at KMS in 2004-05. He was the Head Men's FIS Coach at Stratton Mountain School, where he worked for 11 years, and Head Coach at Gould Academy from 2002-2004. Jack Bailey, Head Men's Coach In 2009 Jack joined KMS after two years as J1/2 Head Coach at Waterville Valley Academy/BBTS Ski Club and eight years as a Men's Coach at Stratton Mountain School. Jack has coached athletes from the USSA up to the Nor-Am levels and has extensive experience in athlete management, training and conditioning. In addition to his coaching qualifications, Jack is a USSA Coaching Clinician for the Eastern Region. Jack is a graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington with a degree in Business Economics and the Ski Industries Program. He lives in Peru, Vermont with his wife, Marybeth, and two sons, Finegan and Shane. Nick Stagers, Women's Head Coach In 2010 Nick joined the KMS coaching staff as an assistant Men’s coach. In the past he has worked at a number of eastern ski academies including Stratton Mountain School and Gould Academy. He has also spent a number of seasons working with NCAA Division I athletes at Colby College and Bates College. Nick earned his B.A. in Psychology from The University of Maine at Farmington in June 2005. He competed at a high level throughout high school at Carrabassett Valley Academy and continued on to ski at Saint Michael’s College before heading back to Maine to finish school. Nick lives in the Killington area with his wife Aerwen. Lon Brettell, Head J3 Coach In 2002, Lon joined the staff at KMS after nine years of work as a U.S. Ski Team coach with the Women's World Cup Technical and Speed Teams. Prior to his work with the national team, Lon coached at Burke Mountain Academy and in Beaver Creek. He grew up in Pomfret, Vermont and competed at the FIS level as an athlete.
Greg Hadley, BOOST Alpine Coordinator, Head J4 Coach In 2005 Greg joined the KMS coaching staff. He coached for several years at Nashoba Valley in Massachusetts and was Director of Skiing for a high school program. He was also an assistant coach for the US Disabled Ski Team. He owns and operates Vermont Sport Sales Agency in Woodstock, Vermont. Greg Hardy, J1/2 Men's Coach This is Greg's second year coaching at KMS. He was born and raised in Stratton, Vermont and begin skiing at the age of 2 but recalls his early days of training in his back yard--every day for 8 years--at age 4. He graduated from the University of Vermont with a B.A. in Community Entrepreneurship. He was a 3-time UVM Ski Team Captain and NCAA GS Champion in 2005. Greg was a member of the US Ski Team from 2002-2004 and have World Cup experience. Alex Norden, J1/2 Women's Coach Alex joined the KMS coaching staff in 2010. She graduated in 2010 from the University of New Hampshire where she obtained a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Sports Studies. Alex competed for the UNH Ski Team, which she captained during the 2009 winter season. She was named to the NCAA All-Academic team in 2009. Along with skiing, she competed on the UNH track and field team. Alex grew up in Conway, New Hampshire, and raced for the Mount Washington Valley Ski Team.
Chris Clarke, KSC/KMS Head Ross Coach Chris Clarke will head up the Ross Team for a second season in 2011-2012. He coaches the youngest age group, also known as J5 (ages 8-9 in the Mid-Vermont Council Series, VARA), and in a sense, will be the first race coach these young athletes will interact with. Clarke brings with him a long history of more than 30 years of coaching and instructing at Killington and was an active Masters racer for more than 20 years. He lives with his family in Eastern Pennsylvania and spends winters in Vermont. He is a commercial pilot as well. Will Courtney, J3 Coach Will grew up ski racing in Vermont, later attending Gould Academy for high school where he competed at the FIS level. Last season Will was a J3 Coach for KWSC/KMS and prior to that was the Head J3 Coach at the Quechee Ski Club. Will attended the University of Vermont, graduating with a degree in political science and a double minor in business administration and history.
