Admissions Policy
Admission to Killington Mountain School is awarded based on a student's current academic
and athletic standing and potential. Extracurricular interests and accomplishments also are considered. Being accepted into the KMS community involves a larger commitment to the KMS culture that prides itself on promoting respect, integrity, leadership, excellence, and responsibility.
KMS does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, national origin, religion, or financial need in its admissions process.
Admissions Process
The admissions process has been designed to help the Admissions Committee become better acquainted with the applicant as an individual. Because KMS is a small community and offers a unique learning experience, each application is reviewed individually. The BOOST Program requires a separate application process explained here.
Each candidate is asked to complete and forward the following:
>> Completed and signed application
>> Letters of recommendations from:
- Current or recent teacher
- Current or recent coach
- Other - such as a guidance counselor, advisor, a second coach, or teacher
>> Completed response to essay questions
>> $50 non-refundable application fee
>> Current school transcript
>> Parent commentary (information you would like us to know about your child) - optional
>> Interview with Head of School and Coach
Admissions Schedule
Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis from January through April 1. The Admissions Committee typically makes a decision on completed applications within three weeks; families are notified shortly thereafter. In some cases, the Admissions Committee may decide to defer an applicant to the general admissions pool. Applications received between April 2-15 will be included in the general admissions pool and will be reviewed by April 30. Applications received after April 15 will be considered on a space available basis. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply before the April 1 deadline.
