Cycling Team Caps Off Season with Multiple Championships and Podiums Jan. 11, 2012 In just one season, the Killington Mountain School (KMS) Cycling Team has grown from a group of true beginner riders to a team of New England champions.
Last weekend, the 2012 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships crowned 10 more national champions on the third day of competition and KMS Cycling Team rider Erin Donohue, of Hanover, N.H., took a third-place podium finish in the Junior Women’s (17-18) Division with a time of 36:21. [download pdf] KMS Cycling Team Riding High After Recent Victories; Finishes Fifth Overall in Prep School League May 23, 2011 Local athletes from the Killington Mountain School Cycling Team, the junior racing division of the Woodstock Bicycle Club, have been on fire this season, most recently winning three categories (Men’s A, Men’s B and Women’s A) at the Profile High School Road Race in Bethlehem, N.H., on May 9. Members of the team also posted top-10 finishes in support of the race winners. The team finished fifth overall in the New England Road Cycling League, a series of bicycle road racing events where private and public secondary school cycling teams throughout northern New England compete for individual and team awards. [download pdf] Killington Mountain School Freestyler Dan Rosenblum, of Stamford, Conn., Takes Overall Ski Halfpipe Title in U.S. Revolution Tour April 6, 2011 Dan Rosenblum, a 16-year-old freestyle skier on the Killington Mountain School Freestyle Team, won the U.S. Revolution Tour Overall Ski Halfpipe title this season, based on his results are seasonal Tour events throughout the country. [download pdf] Killington Mountain School Student-Athletes Across All Disciplines Dominate Weekend Events and Easily Find the Podium; J3 Racers Capture MVC Banner for School-Record Sixth Consecutive Week Feb. 21, 2011 It was a whirlwind weekend of podium results across all disciplines and age groups for Killington Mountain School (KMS) student-athletes. The J3 team led the way, capturing the J3 Mid-Vermont Council (MVC) team banner at Killington for the sixth consecutive race of the season—a KMS record. Over the course of the MVC season, the team took 25 podiums (no fewer than three podium finishes in any race), 40 top-10 finishes, and 56 front-page (top-15) finishes. The entire girls’ team and six from the boys’ contingent have qualified to compete at the J3 State Championships this Friday at Okemo Mountain.
In addition, the KMS Freestyle team earned multiple podiums at the USSA Eastern Freestyle Killington Klassic in single moguls, dual moguls, halfpipe, and slopestyle events. Also last week, three student-athletes from the men’s J2 team—Kyle Burcin of Basking Ridge, N.J., Cameron Price of Rutland, and Dan Martin of Belmont, Mass.— qualified from the Eastern Region for J2 National Junior Olympics at Sugarloaf in March. (Jan. 10, 2011)—The Killington Mountain School (KMS) Freestyle Team owned the Eastern USSA Freestyle event this weekend at Sunday River, in Bethel, Maine, with Nick Keating (KMS ’10) and a PG athlete at KMS winning the men’s single moguls event on Saturday while KMS Junior Aspen Witt, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., won for the women. Sterling Crescimanno ’10 took second, Bryan Zemba ’10 placed fifth, and Wadhams landed in seventh. KMS PG athlete Kelsey Albert ’07 took bronze for the women, followed by Lizzy Smith ’10 (4), Burcin (6), Alta Curtis ’10 (7), Megan Moores (9), and Victoria Smith ’10 (10). KMS women filled seven of the top 10 spots in moguls on Saturday while the KMS men took 10 of the top 20 spots.
On Day Two 16-year-old Kayla Burcin, of Basking Ridge, N.J. won the dual mogul event on Sunday for the women and Tyler Wadhams, of Hebron, Conn., took top honors in duals for the men.
[download pdf] Killington Mountain School J3 Team Retains MVC Banner with Carolyn Hofley, Mika Smith and James Ferri on the Podium Jan. 10, 2011 KILLINGTON, Vt. (Jan. 10, 2011)—In its second strong showing in as many races, the Killington Mountain School J3 Team put three student-athletes on the podium at the second Mid-Vermont Race held at Pico yesterday. The team posted enough top-20 finishes to retain the Mid-Vermont Council banner for the second straight week. The J3 Banner is awarded to the winning team each week, as teams vie for the J3 Mid-Vermont Council team title at the end of the year. Rankings from these council races also are used to select racers for the J3 States at the end of the season.
Carolyn Hofley, of Bow, N.H., took top honors for the girl’s team with a combined time of 1:18.74 while Mika Smith, of Castleton, Vt., won the second run and came in second with 1:20.43. James Ferri, of Farmington, Ct., who won silver in the first race of the season, put himself at the top of the podium for the boy’s team with a combined time of 1:13.70.
