February 2, 2012

The 28th Annual KMS Auction & Dinner is just around the corner! Reserve your dinner tickets today via the online registration siteand join us on Feb. 25 for groovy ’70s tunes and the biggest KMS event of the year! You can support KMS, have a good time, and enjoy bidding on all of the great items in our auction catalog, from ski clothing to retired triple chairs.

KMS alumni continue to shine on the NCAA circuit, with Zach Clayton ’07 again leading the charge at last weekend’s UNH Carnival. With the giant slalom cancelled due to weather conditions, only the slalom remained, and Zach finished the day seven hundredths of a second off the podium, in fourth position. The other four KMS alumni competing—Allison Visconti ’11, Tim Spangler ’09, Heidi Robbins ’07 and Jim Ryan ’09—were among the many competitors who didn’t finish the second run. NCAA racing continues this weekend with the UVM Carnival at Stowe, Vt., where Matt Beers ’10 will join Tim and Heidi to represent the Purple Knights. In USCSA racing, Robert Visconti ’08 had a second-place finish in this past Sunday’s giant slalom at Dartmouth Skiway; his Northeastern teammate Tori Hone ’10 had a pair of 31st-place finishes, while her sister, Katherine Hone ’11, scored 11th- and a 13th-place finishes in the McBrine division race at Magic Mountain.

The Nor Am mogul series opens next week in Telluride, while regional mogul competition continues at Killington and Sunapee. The Killington Klassic, featuring top regional competitors from freestyle programs and ski academies throughout the east, will take place on Killington’s Conclusion trail. KMS skiers—who have claimed podium finishes in each ECS event this season—will look to continue that streak on home snow. EQS mogul competition resumes at Sunapee, while USSA freeskiing competition will take place at New Hampshire’s Waterville Valley and USASA action for freeskiing and snowboard competitors resumes at Okemo with slopestyle and halfpipe competitions scheduled.

Eastern Cup speed week wraps up today at Maine’s Sugarloaf resort, while Vermont Cup racing continues with slaloms at Bromley and Pico this weekend. Eastern Cup racing continues this weekend with slaloms at Suicide Six and Middlebury, while Mid-Vermont Council racing continues at Okemo, Killington, and Quechee.
