The first-annual KMS winter break commences on Friday, Feb. 17 and ends on Wednesday, Feb. 22. The dorm will close at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17 and reopen at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Mid-Vermont Council racing wraps up the regular season at Killington this weekend with a giant slalom on Saturday and a Super-G on Sunday; both races will be held on the Needle's Eye trail. The Jones series will travel to Middlebury for a giant slalom, while J1 and J2 state championships will be held at Okemo and FIS racing continues with the NJR—National Junior Race—series beginning this week and continuing next week.
Zach Clayton '07 again led the KMS alumni in the UVM Carnival at Stowe, taking 17th in the giant slalom and fifth in the slalom; Jim Ryan '09 was 20th in the slalom, while Tim Spangler '09 was 37th in the giant slalom. On the women's side, Heidi Robbins '07 took the 36th in giant slalom, and Allison Visconti '11 took 45th in the slalom. The NCAA Carnival season resumes with the Dartmouth Carnival this Friday and Saturday. In USCSA action, Katherine Hone '11 had a sixth-place finish in the most recent McBrine Division giant slalom, while Peter Calhoun '08 had a pair of second-place finishes in Thompson Division races at Sunday River.
The first Nor Am of the season is underway in Telluride, Colo., and several KMS student-athletes are competing against some of the best mogul skiers on the continent. Regional competition resumes this weekend at Stratton for ECS mogul skiers and at Holimont for EQS mogul skiers. Freeskiing competition continues with the Maine Open at Sunday River, a K-Town Showdown competition here at Killington, and EQS slopestyle and air competitions at Mt. Snow.
