KMS helps prepare River Road Loop trail

Under the direction of Mike Sutcliffe, recreation director for the Town of Killington, and Dave Hardy, trail-building expert for the Green Mountain Club, 15 KMS student-athletes and 14 KMS staff members provided labor for the last of the town’s three 2011 work days on the new River Road Loop trail. When completed in the spring of 2012, the River Road Loop trail will feature 4.1 miles through the scenic Ottaquechee River Valley in Killington and will be particularly unusual in Vermont due to its minimal elevation change.

KMS student-athletes help with local Irene cleanup

On the second day of nine-month classes, KMS student-athletes headed to the Killington Events Hall for flood cleanup in lieu of a normal dryland schedule. Formerly the Killington Grange Hall, this building housed KMS academic and athletic activities from the school’s founding until it leased space at Pico in 2000. After a quick tour by trustee Fred Coriell, Head of School Tao Smith and several KMS coaches led the students in an effort to clean out the basement and leave it ready for drywall replacement efforts.
