ACTION SPORTS // Camps

KMS athletic programs run year-round, providing student-athletes with the building blocks they need to reach their goals. KMS athletes work throughout the preparation period—the time between the end of one competition season and the beginning of the next—to be ready for the next year's competitions.

Regular Session

Dates: June 30- July 16, 2023 (first and last dates are travel dates)

This is our classic glacier camp that has been providing athletes with the best on snow mogul training for years.

We offer a 16 day mogul camp with 12 days on snow (first and last days are travel days). We use a 4 day on - 1 day off rotation to make sure the athletes are rested and ready to go for the whole camp. A full mogul course with special features provides excellent training for both young and experienced athletes.

Training groups are broken down by ability so that every athlete gets the attention they need to progress. Our professional crew of coaches directs the on snow training as well as the off snow activities.

For the more experienced athletes who are looking to make serious gains through a summer training experience, the venues are maintained to perfection and the atmosphere is intense. If you want to step up your game big time this is the camp!

Youth Sessions

Youth Session:

June 30- July 7, 2023

For younger athletes (ages 12 and under) looking for a summer training experience, we offer a special 8 day camp (6 days on snow) with age specific coaching and special course features. Our Youth Session has been so popular that this year we are adding an extended youth camp of 16 days total (12 days on snow). There are a lot of kids the same age and ability level to train with as well as age appropriate activities for the younger athletes with plenty of supervision. Athletes in this camp need to be accompanied by a parent. Call us for details on the special arrangements for the young campers and for parents who want to come along and enjoy all the opportunities that the Whistler area has to offer. Who says Whistler is only for the kids!

Camp Requirements

  1. Planet Ski International is a USSA club so all athletes must be current members of USSA at the time of their camp. The membership year ends on June 30 so you MUST renew for the next season in order to participate. The quickest way to renew is online at the USSA site: click here to renew.

  2. There is no set minimum age for camp - If you have a prospective camper under 12 years old please give us a call to discuss the options for our Youth Camp.

Important

The first day of each camp is a travel/arrival day. Athletes will be met by our staff at the airport in Vancouver BC.  Flights are organized through Winter Park Travel (1-800-325-2748). The last day of each camp is also a travel day. Athletes will be accompanied by staff in our chartered bus to the airport in Vancouver to catch their flights.

Lodging

The Aspens on Blackcomb is a premier resort close to the bottom of the Wizard chairlift. Campers share spacious two-bedroom condos, typically with four people in a unit, allowing plenty of comfort for rest and recuperation after a day on the glacier. The Aspens on Blackcomb's heated pool and hot tub area is a favorite for campers to catch up with others for a little health club apres glacier ski. (Be sure to request to room with your friends when you sign up for camp!)

Meals

Three meals are included on all training days while camp is in session.  Meals are not provided on the travel days or the off-snow days. Breakfast is buffet-style at Merlins, located at the base of the lift before the ride up. Lunch is a bag lunch that campers bring right up to the glacier (it is a camp favorite.) For dinner, we dine around the food-famous Whistler village where we have developed relationships with several top eating establishments who offer us specials that ensure a delicious and nutritious meal each evening. Our condos have excellent kitchens that athletes can use to prepare snacks or meals on the off days.

Four Season Bag Jump

Four Season Bag Jump

Our camps provide athletes a safe and effective way to develop jumps before attempting them on-snow. Athletes will first work to master tricks in the school's trampoline facility and then continue their progression toward mastery as they head to the bag to practice those maneuvers.

See our Four Season Bag Jump page for more info

Water Ramp Camps

Water Ramp Freestyle Camps

KMS water ramp camps take place at the Olympic Training Center Jump Complex (OTC) in Lake Placid, NY. The OTC is a world-class ski-jumping and freestyle training facility that includes four water ramps and three trampolines.

Our water ramp camps provide athletes with a safe and effective way to develop jumps before they attempt the maneuvers on snow.  Training acrobatics in a low consequence situation is a pathway to develop new maneuvers and achieve the repetition and jump volumes necessary to progress to on snow spinning and flipping.  Athletes will train double sessions on most days, splitting time between trampoline and water ramp training. Coaches will safely transition athletes through acrobatic progressions that will target their short and long term jumping goals.
