Black Bear Award – June 1, 2016

Congratulations to Henry Wilson and Benjamin Vergara, who were given the Black Bear Award at this week’s all-school community breakfast. They were nominated for this award by Student Life Coordinator/Alpine Coach Meghan Cleason for their display of loyalty and persistence over the weekend at the KSC Bike Swap. Both Henry and Ben spent two hours on Saturday in what

was an exhaustive search, helping their friend Pasha Aksoy pick out the perfect mountain bike. There were a lot of ups and downs in the search, and Pasha was starting to get really down and bummed out. Henry and Ben persisted, looking through every bike and keeping Pasha positive and motivated. Ultimately, they found a great brand new bike for Pasha, and they boys all had a blast riding on this summer-like weekend together. At KMS academics and athletics are key, but so is contributing positively to the community, and that’s just what Henry and Ben did this weekend. Way to go, boys!
