Superstar Shiffrin in town to scope out Killington's Superstar trail in advance of World Cup

This Monday morning was anything but dreary for Killington Mountain School Alpine athletes who got the head's up late Sunday evening to be on the hill bright and early the next day for a special opportunity. Ski racing legend Mikaela Shiffrin was in town to check out Killington's Superstar trail in advance of the Women's World Cup races coming to town on November 26-27.

Shiffrin graciously spent time chatting with KMS Alpine athletes, signing autographs and posing for numerous photos. For many of the student-athletes, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet their idol. Shiffrin was down to earth, gracious, and kind, and left the entire group smiling.

After the meet-and-greet with the KMS crew, she headed onto the Superstar chair with her coaches to spend some time inspecting the hill. Shiffrin came straight to Killington after returning to the U.S. from Levi, Finland, where she took the win in the Women's World Cup SL season opener. The win came with an unusual prize --a reindeer whom she named "Sven" after a character in the movie "Frozen". Sven isn't the first, but in fact the second reindeer Shiffrin has won, the first being "Rudolph" whom she claimed back in 2013 with her first victory in Finland.

The KMS community will be cheering loudly for Shiffrin when she steps into the gate here in just two weeks. Who knows, maybe a Vermont victory will bring it's own uniquely unusual prize for whomever takes the top spot on the podium? Maybe Shiffrin's reindeer will soon be joined by a very special cow!
