Student of the Week - February 1, 2017
Congratulations to Brad Underhill who was named Student of the Week at Wednesday's all-school meeting. Brad is an 11th grade Alpine athlete who comes to KMS from Newbury, NH was nominated for this award by Math Department Chair Steve Tuckerman for his strong work in Steve's AP Calculus class. History teacher Ian Groezinger seconded the nomination, adding "Over the course of the winter, Brad has been tasked with tackling an heavy workload in AP Comparative Government. On a weekly basis, Brad comes to class prepared and ready to engage in class discussion. He has been able to balance his intense travel schedule and college level readings effectively. I also think it is worth noting that the material can be quite difficult to grasp due to foreign names, terms, and concepts--we are currently finishing Iran and non-democratic regimes." Science teacher Gerbil Stahle agreed, saying that Brad has been "great in Chemistry." History Department Chair Courtney O'Keefe commented on Brad's work in her Economics class, "Brad has been finishing up his study of Economics with me since the winter-term started. It has not be the most exciting of classes, but his determination to tackle the sometimes dry and complicated material associated with Econ has really impressed me. He managed to stay on top of his work while traveling and produce good quality work. I also agree with Ian, Brad's course load is impressive and challenging and he is tackling it with focus and dedication. Overall, a great student to nominate." Nice work, Brad!
