KMS dominates at Killington Klassic

The Killington Mountain School Mogul team completed on their home turf this weekend as Killington Resort hosted the first of five Freestyle events in 2017 with the Eastern Freestyle Killington Klassic. Freestyle Program Director Kris Pepe commented on the weekend, saying "Killington always hosts the biggest and best events! Thanks to Killington Mountain Resort and the Killington Ski Club for building the toughest course and as always, hosting the best events in the East."

The KMS boys were in a league of their own this weekend sweeping the podium in both Saturday's Single mogul and Sunday's Dual mogul competitions. KMS athletes occupied seven of the top ten spots on Saturday, with Alex Lewis taking the win. Alex executed his newest trick, a cork 1080, on the second jump to win the competition. On the ladies side, Sofia Robinson wasted no time finding the podium in her first competition of the season. Sofia finished second overall.

Sunday saw more of the same from the KMS team, with the boys again taking seven of the top ten spots This time Kalman Heims came up with the victory, which is his third win of the season. BOOST athlete Sabrina Cass led the team for the ladies. Sabrina finished with a career-best second place overall. Several KSC/KMS Development athletes moved up to compete in their first A mogul completion this weekend, including four KMS BOOST athletes. Pepe shared, "The BOOST athletes skied great. They showed that they could hold their own at the next level; KMS Freestyle has a very bright future"

The KMS team will head in different directions over the next few weeks. Hannah Soar is set to start in her first World Cup in Deer Valley, Utah. Hannah will compete in Single Moguls Thursday and Dual Moguls Saturday. The event is scheduled to air on NBC sports.

Kalman Heims, Cam Robinson and Alex Lewis are home training until they get in the gate again here at Killington ten days from now when Killington will host the opening event for the 2017 Freestyle Nor Am Tour.

The rest of the team will head to Stratton this weekend to compete in another Eastern Freestyle event. The boys team will look to extend their win streak to ten consecutive events.

And a big shout out to KMS senior Hannah Soar and KMS alum Abe Studler who are currently out at Deer Valley competing in the World Cup!
