Black Bear Award - March 8, 2017

Congratulations to Anja Kroon who was given the Black Bear Award at Wednesday's all-school meeting. Anja is a 10th grade Alpine athlete who comes to KMS from Green Brook, NJ. She was nominated for this award by Director of Academics, April Hayden for her work as a peer tutor. April shared, "Even before the student tutoring program started, she has encouraged and helped others with academics - from Algebra 1 to college and SAT advice. She is currently tutoring two students in math - and has been willing to help with many more. She has taken the lead with scheduling, talking with teachers, advocating on others' behalf. She truly cares about her fellow student-athletes and wants them to succeed." Math/Science teacher Ted Schaft agreed, "I second the nomination. Anja is such an incredible, positive force in this school. All peer pressure from her is going in the right direction. She is tutoring others who need it before they even ask." Congratulations, Anja! Thanks for all your positive contributions to the KMS Community!
