KMS Alpine athletes step onto podiums with pride


Congratulations to Wyatt Hoffman who killed it on Sunday at Okemo, taking the overall win in the GS at U16 Easterns!

Killington Mountain School was just notified that five of our outstanding student-athletes have qualified for US Nationals at Sugarloaf March 25-28: Congratulations to Becca Clark, Ava Mattsson, Paul Ferri, Bobby Ryan and Brad Underhill!

Killington played host to a FIS SL on Monday, March 6, where Ava Mattsson found the podium, taking third, for her seventh FIS podium this season. Cassidy Bebo had a career best FIS result, placing eighth, and Jenna Jenkins placed 14th, the best result of her young FIS career. Paul Ferri, Tommy Shantler and Bobby Ryan had solid races as well, finishing 11th, 13th, and 15th respectively. Crawford Jones had a good race too, finishing just outside the top 20. In addition, at Shawnee Peak in Maine last week, Ava finished third at an Eastern Cup SL and Becca Clark and Cassidy both finished strong with career best finishes. Up next is Devo FIS Finals at Attitash, NH next week.

Okemo GS:

Izzy Jenne and Francesca Castellini went one, two for U16's and 5th overall. Bella made the flip and Anja Kroon had two solid runs, finishing 17th. Lizzie DeGraw, Hannah Caldini, and Bella Muscara were all in the top 30.

U16 Eastern Championships:

Izzy Jenne won the women's SG and Francesca Castellini was 24th. Coach Lon commented, "Izzy skied great from top top finish, with smart tactics and aggressive skiing. Franny skied technically well and cut her bib in half after starting 48th."

Ethan Maiden was 18th for the boys, skiing great, as did Matt Fryer who was 24th.

Women's Eastern's GS 3/1//17:

Izzy Jenne took the sixth place spot.

George Tormey SL at Killington 3/12/17:

KMS boys and girls swept both podiums, with Bo Underhill, Crawford Jones, and Tommy Shantler going 1,2,3 and Ava Mattsson, Cassidy Bebo, and Becca Clark taking first, second, and third and Jenna Jenkins right behind in fourth as well. KMS took nine of the top ten spots for boys, with Brad Underhill, Paul Ferri, PJ Bovaconti, Max Wonsavage, John Bianchi, and Zach Jablonski rounding out the top ten.

Okemo Finals Day 1 3/11/17:

Wyatt Hoffman took fifth and Lizzie DeGraw was seventh

Eastern Men's GS on 3/12/17:

Ethan Maiden with bib 32 moved into 16th with a solid first run, and then made another jump up to tenth overall with another good run. Matt Freyer skied from 57th to 31st after first run, and Coach Lon reports that his second run was the best he's ever have seen him ski, on which he tied for sixth and ultimately moving up to 19th.

The move of the day went to Tanner Schultz, going from 66th starting position to 22nd overall, charging first run and moving up a couple more for the second.
