Student of the Week - Johannes Stromski

Congratulations to Johannes Stromski, who was named Student of the Week at Wednesday's all-school meeting. Johannes is a 12th grade Cycling athlete who comes to KMS from Merrimack, NH. He was nominated for this award by Science Department Chair Terri Isidro who shared, "Johannes has displayed great tenacity and toughness; I see how much he has improved this year and how well he is doing in Anatomy and Physiology. A lot of this has to do with his great positive attitude, his persistence and hard work, and his ability to bounce back from adversity. Way to go Johannes!" Math/Science faculty member Richard Morse seconded the nomination, commenting, "Johannes demonstrates; excellent engineering skills, a concrete understanding of airplane physics and an ability to make anything out of poster board!" English Department Chair Alex Crivici also felt Johannes was a great selection, adding "I would also like to nominate Johannes. English is a subject that Johannes sometimes struggles with, as analysis and critical reading are definitely challenging techniques to master. However, Johannes has been working very hard, and meets with me one-on-one to go over his work. Now he is ahead of most of his classmates and has gained confidence within his writing and participation in class. Johannes is an incredibly thoughtful student, and he always has a positive demeanor. Way to end the year on such a strong note!" Finally, History Department Chair Courtney O'Keefe gave her thoughts on Johannes as as student, "I would also like to nominate Mr. Stromski for Student of the Week this week. I have him in my US Government and Economics class. It is not the most exciting of classes, but Johannes takes this in stride. He has really stepped up his work effort this quarter. Recently he has stayed after class a handful of times after everyone was let out early, to complete homework assignments and ask questions. He works hard to stay on top of his work and to understand the material we are studying. His last Economics test was excellent, and it was apparent that he worked hard to succeed at it. However, the one thing that, for me, stands out via Johannes is his kindness and his smile. He is an encouraging student to have in the class. When I feel as though the lesson is slowing down or that it might be too boring, I receive a genuine and kind smile from him as if to say 'Keep going! You got this!' It has and continues to be the highlight of my day most days." Congratulations, Johannes. This honor is particularly impressive given the fact that this is the busiest time of year for Cycling athletes; well done!
