Student of the Week - EK Robinson-Leith

Congratulations to EK Robinson-Leith, who was named Student of the Week at Wednesday's all-school meeting. EK is an 11th grade Snowboard athlete who comes to KMS from Killington, VT. EK was nominated for this award by Math Department chair, Steve Tuckerman. Steve shared, "EK continues to excel in pre-calculus. She is doing a great job balancing high level training and academics." English Department Chair Alex Crivici seconded the nomination, "I will also nominate EK. Although I do not teach EK this year, her willingness and enthusiasm to participate in the KMS community is hard to miss. She is the new 11th grade representative within Student Council which represents her leadership qualities, and her classmates' high opinion of her. I have heard from all of EK's teachers how well she is doing this year, and how she differentiates herself as a model student athlete. Keep it up, EK!" History Department Chair Courtney O'Keefe agreed, "I would also like to nominate EK for Student of the Week. She is a well-liked and respected member of my Cultural Anthropology course. She contributes to all class discussions with an open mindedness that reflects a growing cultural sensitivity and awareness of not only differences between cultures, but also their similarities as well. She works hard to turn in high quality work, which is reflective in nature and goes beyond just surface information as she tries to expand her understandings to greater concepts and connections. She is not afraid to ask questions, both in and out of the classroom, and many times these questions lead to greater classroom discussions that help her peers navigate their own views about certain cultural practices and beliefs not experienced in Western Cultures. Lastly, she is demonstrating a level of focus and determination that translates well to accomplishing what needs to be accomplished while learning remotely. She stays on top of her work while away, stays in touch with updates as to her work progression, and uses all her free time to self-pace and navigate her work independently. Overall, she is off to a great start this year. I mirror Alex when I say that she is definitely a model student-athlete. Nice one, EK!" Science Department Chair Terri Isidro added her thoughts, "Despite a busy travel schedule EK keeps up with all her assignments in Honors Chemistry and when she is in class she participates fully, helps her peers, and shows enthusiasm for learning! French Teacher Antonio Baker-Médard, rounded out the nominations, "EK is an advanced student, and her devotion makes her so special. She is smart, proactive, engaging and responsible." Congratulations, EK on a well-deserved honor!
