KMS Freestyle earns multiple medals at Bristol Mountain
The Killington Mountain School Freestyle Team got off to a great start in at the first Eastern Freestyle mogul event of the season. Bristol Mountain hosted two single mogul and a dual mogul competition this past weekend. This was the first competition of the season for much of the Freestyle squad. Killington was well represented with nearly 30 athletes from the KMS and the KSC Development Programs.
The team braved frigid temperatures in their regional opener. Saturday kicked off with a one run single mogul event. Alex Lewis and Lexi Crotty led the KMS team finishing first and second respectively. Lewis and Crotty were not alone at the top of the standings; Ian Beauregard was fourth, Sofia Robinson was seventh, CJ Shambelan was also seventh, Adam Stiefel finished ninth as did Brinley Johnson (KSC), and Curtis North was tenth, great top ten overall finishes for the group.
The results of the one run competition were used to seed Saturday afternoon's dual mogul competition. In the Duals, Crotty and Shambelan came away with the victory, a career first for CJ! Alex Lewis finished second, with Ian Beauregard in fourth, and both Sofia Robinson and Adam Stiefel in fifth.
Sunday's event saw more of the same from the KMS Team. Lewis and Crotty added to their win tally, while eight Killington athletes finished in the top ten overall.
Freestyle Program Director Kris Pepe shared, "This was a great start to the eastern competition season. We had a lot of success at the top of the scoreboard, but the coolest part about the weekend was how many young athletes we have moving up to the A level this year, as many athletes were stepping up to compete for the first time with the academy team. It's going to be awesome watching them move through the ranks in the years to come."
Well done everyone!
