The Killington Mountain School Freestyle Team had continued their domination of the Eastern Freestyle Circuit over the weekend. This team traveled to Whiteface Resort in New York where they faced a two run single mogul competition on Sunday, followed by dual moguls on Monday. Again battling cold temperatures and challenging conditions, the team emerged successful.
On day one, Lexi Crotty extended her winning streak to three in a row. Lexi was followed closely by Taylor Getz in fourth, Kassidy Lynch in 12th (first U13) with Jessica Cohen rounding out the top 15 overall. On the men's side, Adam Stiefel came up with his first victory of the season finishing just ahead of teammate Ian Beauregard. KMS had six in the top ten, with CJ Shambelan finishing fourth, Kalman Heims fifth, Curtis North seventh (career best finish) and Alex Lewis in ninth. Top Killington Ski Club athlete, Blake Levits ended up just outside the top ten in 11th place.
KMS Middle school athletes also had strong showings. Tyler Damore finished 18th overall and third in the U15 age class, while Jack Patrone was 15th overall winning the U13.
Freestyle Program Director Kris Pepe commented, "The is a lot of depth in the younger age classes. There's a bit of competition within the competition watching those younger athletes work their way up the ranks."
Monday brought more of the same from the KMS crew. Lexi Crotty was again victorious, with Beauregard taking the men's win. It was a KMS sweep on the men's side, as Beauregard was followed by Adam Steifel in second and Kalman Heims in third. Taylor Getz found the podium for the first time this season with a third place finish. KMS was spread all through the top ten overall with Alex Lewis in fifth, Kassidy Lynch in sixth (career best finish), CJ Shambelan in seventh, and Keenan Green in eighth (career best finish).
The team is off the Stratton this weekend for other Eastern Freestyle Event before returning home for the Killington Klassic in two weeks.
