Freestyle throws down at U.S. Championships

The Bump Gang had another strong showing at the U.S. Championships in Waterville Valley, NH last weekend (March 15-17). This event brings the top skiers from all over the country in what is a challenging field to say the least.

Freestyle Program Director Kris Pepe commented, "Nationals is really cool because it's really one of our only chances to compete against the World Cup team to see how we measure up."

Saturday's Single Moguls competition saw KMS alum and U.S. Team Member, Hannah Soar, have her first-ever Championship podium, finishing second. Behind Soar, KMS PG Jess Mulder finished 13th, Lexi Crotty was 21st, Brinley Johnson 22nd and Taylor Getz 26th.

On the Men's side, Kalman Heims led the KMS team with a seventh place finish. Kalman narrowly missed the final round of six. Behind Heims, the KMS team had Adam Stiefel in 18th, Alex Lewis in 20th, Ian Beauregard in 24th, Curtis North in 36th and Jack Petrone (the youngest skier in the event) finishing 45th.

Sunday's Dual mogul competition was a great showing from the KMS team. Soar again led the way with a third place finish. Close behind were Alex Lewis in fifth, Ian Beauregard in sixth, Jack Patrone in eighth, Jess Mulder in ninth, Lexi Crotty in 15th and Brinley Johnson in 20th. "The Duals day really showed the strength and depth of our team," Pepe added. "We showed that we are the best team in the country and our athletes are right in there with the national team skiers."

Way to go Freestyle!
