Pavel brings over 40 years of coaching experience and a distinguished track record of helping athletes reach the highest levels of sport. He has served as the head coach for the Alpine Canada Men's Europa Cup Team, where two Canadian men won NorAm championships and a third finished second behind his teammate.

He holds a Level 500 US Ski and Snowboard Alpine Coach Certification and numerous Level 2 and 3 Alpine Officials Certifications. Pavel was inducted into the Vermont Area Racing Association Hall of Fame in 2025.

Throughout his career, Pavel has placed multiple athletes, including Greg Hardy, on various national junior teams while serving as the head alpine coach at Stratton Mountain School from 1990 to 2007. He also coached Olympians Gaku Hirasawa (1994, 1998) and Tasha Nelson (2002). He coached Sarka Zahrobska to five top-15 finishes on the World Cup circuit.

Additionally, Pavel was a professor of sports science at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia, where he earned his doctorate in sport training.

His hobbies include skiing and cycling. Pavel is the father of two children, Diana and Pavel Jr.
