SUMMER CYCLING at Killington Mountain School

DH MTB Summer Session

​

The Downhill Summer Session offers an opportunity for competitive riders ages 11-14 not yet enrolled in the KMS Full Term Program to join the KMS Gravity Program during the essential summer training and racing period.

 

Athletes in this program will train on Killington Resort's expansive terrain and surrounding trail networks mid-week and compete in the Eastern States Cup Series (ESC) Friday-Sunday. Athletes will experience the full KMS approach to athletics including sport psychology, in-season strength and conditioning, nutrition, recovery, goal setting and skill development. 


Requirements:

  • Ability to confidently ride terrain at the top of Killington

  • Ability to race in the ESC Series

  • Killington Bike Park Pass

  • Reliable full suspension bike and trail bike

  • Full face helmet

  • Goggles & gloves

  • Body armor

DH MTB Summer Session

DH MTB Race Camp

This 4-day camp is designed for athletes ages 11-16 who want to take their racing to the next level. Set in a fun and supportive environment, athletes will work in small groups with professional coaches to develop their DH riding and mental performance skills, racing strategy, preparation and recovery, fitness and other essential elements of developing into a top athlete.

 

The KMS campus is homebase, taking full advantage of the athletic and dining facilities. Training will primarily happen at Killington Resort, one of the top bike parks in the US! Other activities will either take place on campus or within short travel distances from campus.

Cyclocros an XC

Cyclocross & XC Camp

​

The KMS CX Camp is a 7-day, 6-night boarding camp for junior cyclists CX racing age 13 to 18.  Immerse yourself in a week of cycling with like-minded peers, make new cycling friends, and have a lot of fun as you begin the journey toward meeting your cyclocross goals!   Through a combination of training rides, training races, skills work, on-bike games and drills, gym work, demonstrations and discussions, you will leave KMS ready to race. We will give you the tools you need to continue to improve long after the camp ends.  There will not be a lot of down time; this camp is targeted toward junior cyclists who are motivated to reach their potential in cyclocross.  Expect to be on your bike most of the week and go home tired; but it will be that satisfying tired that makes you feel good, strong, and totally excited for that first race!

  • Practice races and training rides

  • Proper technique for mounts/dismounts, sand, cornering, barriers, hole shots, run-ups, and off-cambers 

  • Strength and conditioning methods and plans 

  • Race preparation and course inspection

  • Race tactics and pit management

  • Bike maintenance, set up, and repair

  • Preparing for training/racing in inclement weather

  • Riding efficiently

  • Video analysis

  • Discussion on pathways to the elite levels of cyclocross   

  • The importance of tire pressure

  • Guest appearances from top collegiate and local pro racers. 

 

This camp is targeted toward motivated 13 to 18 year-old junior cyclocross racers of any ability.  Athletes will stay in the KMS dorm, make use of the KMS gym and other facilities, eat (nutritiously -special diets can be accommodated) in the KMS dining hall, and take advantage of the incredible terrain in the Killington area.  


This intensive session will have you well on your way to meeting your cyclocross goals!!
