Fall Session: 9/13-10/8 (DH, CX & XC)

 

BOOST Elite is one-month cycling specific program for riders in grades 6-8. BOOST students will fully immerse themselves in the KMS experience and get a jump on their seasons by building the fundamental cycling skills and training habits necessary to reach their personal goals. The BOOST academic and athletic curriculum will introduce the students to the academy lifestyle where elite athletics meet exceptional academics.

Development Downhill Mountain Bike Team

The Killington Mountain Bike Park offers ideal terrain for young riders to take their skills to the next level. The Development Team is for intermediate to advanced riders that are looking for midweek riding opportunities with professional coaching to further develop their park and racing proficiency. Athletes should be prepared to work hard, have fun and ride fast while they explore the challenges in the bike park with new friends.

  • Reliable full suspension bike

  • Full face helmet

KMS Senders (Downhill Mountain Biking)

The Senders program is designed for downhill riders ages 8 -13 looking to explore the varied terrain of the Killington Bike Park with our expert coaches as they increase their racing skills. Riders will make connections and progress their skills in a fun and inclusive competitive training environment. 

 

Coaches will help young riders master the skills needed to be more proficient riders such as:

  • Dynamic riding positions

  • Brake control

  • Cornering

  • Reading terrain and line choice

  • Jumping 

  • Pumping for speed

  • Drops

  • Basic bike setup

  • Park etiquette

Requirements:

  • Killington Bike Park pass

  • Comfort riding lift service at Killington

  • Reliable full suspension bike

  • Full face helmet

  • Goggles & gloves

  • Body armor

Cyclocross and XC Camps

The KMS CX Camp is a 6-day, 5-night boarding camp for junior cyclists CX racing age 13 to 18.  Immerse yourself in a week of cycling with like-minded peers, make new cycling friends, and have a lot of fun as you begin the journey toward meeting your cyclocross goals!   Through a combination of training rides, training races, skills work, on-bike games and drills, gym work, demonstrations and discussions, you will leave KMS ready to race. We will give you the tools you need to continue to improve long after the camp ends.  There will not be a lot of down time; this camp is targeted toward junior cyclists who are motivated to reach their potential in cyclocross.  Expect to be on your bike most of the week and go home tired; but it will be that satisfying tired that makes you feel good, strong, and totally excited for that first race!

  • Practice races and training rides

  • Proper technique for mounts/dismounts, sand, cornering, barriers, hole shots, run-ups, and off-cambers 

  • Strength and conditioning methods and plans 

  • Race preparation and course inspection

  • Race tactics and pit management

  • Bike maintenance, set up, and repair

  • Preparing for training/racing in inclement weather

  • Riding efficiently

  • Video analysis

  • Discussion on pathways to the elite levels of cyclocross   

  • The importance of tire pressure

  • Guest appearances from top collegiate and local pro racers. 

 

This camp is targeted toward motivated 13 to 18 year-old junior cyclocross racers of any ability.  Athletes will stay in the KMS dorm, make use of the KMS gym and other facilities, eat (nutritiously -special diets can be accommodated) in the KMS dining hall, and take advantage of the incredible terrain in the Killington area.  


This intensive session will have you well on your way to meeting your cyclocross goals!!
