Student of the Week - November 30, 2016

Congratulations to Jenna Jenkins, who was named Student of the Week at Wednesday's all-school meeting. Jenna is an 11th grade Alpine athlete who comes to KMS from Morristown, NJ. She was nominated for this award by History Department Chair Courtney O'Keefe, a nomination that was seconded by many of her teachers. Courtney explained her nomination of Jenna: "Jenna is one of my strongest students in US Government and Economics. This class presents a challenge to all students as it is a subject that many do not find fascinating. However, Jenna is one of the most engaged in the class. Her work reflects a great understanding of the material, showing someone who is actively thinking of what we are learning and how it relates to what is happening today in the United States. She is personable, well-liked by her peers, and an asset to any class activity and discussion." Math/Science teacher Ted Schaft added, "I second Jenna. She always comes to class prepared, is willing to take risks, i.e., asking questions about what she doesn't understand. She also always seems to be in a good mood!" Spanish teacher Alex Vander Els commented that Jenna has "a good attitude, a thirst for doing well and always a smile on her face, despite not being able to ski due to injury! English Department Chair Alex Crivici agreed with all the nominations, saying "I agree that we should choose Jenna! She comes to class smiling and ready to engage. She also does a great job with peer editing, and helps out other students with their work." Congratulations, Jenna! Keep up the good work!
