Academic Standout

Academic Standout Presentation

Student Name: Robert Millner

House Team: Skye Team

Presentation Date: March 29th, 2023

Presenter: Eric Kuntz

The KMS teaching faculty is proud to announce Robert Millner as our Academic Standout for the week of March 29th! Robert is a U16 Men’s Alpine athlete, who comes to KMS from Cheshire, Connecticut. Robert received nominations from several of his teachers this week, each agreeing

that this young man represents the best of what our academic programming has to offer. From his thoughtful contributions to daily lessons, to his effortless ability to raise the bar within the classroom as well as out on the hill, to his creativity and unique problem-solving skills, Robert is a true asset to our academic program. We are excited to be able to recognize his academic achievements as we close out another successful winter-term!

Putting forth the first nomination for Robert is English Department Co-Chair Shayna Miller. Shayna writes, “I would like to nominate Robert Millner for Academic Standout. Robert has consistently

raised the bar in our winter-term English class, both academically and socially. He consistently pushes himself to do his best work-whether it’s making a graphic memoir of a combat-style snowball fight with his Coach or analyzing the many layers of Alice in Wonderland, Robert brings a refreshing sense of curiosity, intellect and humor to our group.”

Seconding Robert’s nomination, as well as presenting for him during our all-school meeting, is Student Life Coordinator, Golf Program Director, and Studio Art/Graphic Design/Photography teacher Eric Kuntz. Eric states, “Robert Millner has been outstanding in Graphic Design. When he knows he will be missing class due to comps/travel, he is always proactive with his communication to let his teachers know that he will be away. Robert always likes to try and solve any creative issue on his own, and usually completes it without any help. He very much enjoys taking a creative problem, coming up with a solution, and putting that solution to work. His attendance is perfect. He always is willing to help others in his class, and show how he achieves the lesson’s goals and objectives. Robert Millner is a pleasure to have in class!”

Putting forth her own nomination in support for Robert is World Languages teacher Ana Araguas.

Ana reflects, “Robert is always willing to help others, and is committed to doing his homework consistently and at good quality. He is a very kind, honest, and is an excellent student. Nice work, Robert!”

Winter-Term Humanities teacher Gabriella Silverblatt also supported Robert’s nomination this week. Gabriella comments, “I support Robert’s recognition this week for Academic Standout. Robert consistently raises the bar for everyone, and works incredibly hard in both his academics as well as on the hill. I have no doubt that he will go far in whatever he pursues! He is a joy to have in the classroom!”

Also supporting Robert’s nomination is Robert’s Advisor and Coach Brendan Drexler. Drex comments, “Robert is always willing to give a hand on the hill and supports his teammates in more ways than one. He is always going above and beyond, and is exactly what we’re looking for in our KMS student-athletes.”

And rounding out this impressive list of nominations is Social Studies Department Co-Chair and Advisory Coordinator Courtney O’Keefe. Courtney reflects, “I do not have Robert as a student this year, but I wish I had. I hear frequently how intelligent this young man is, as well as the value he adds to our classrooms. In my limited interactions with him this year via House Team competitions as well as helping him during advisory, I have come to know Robert as a kind and thoughtful young student, who is appreciative of any assistance or guidance you give him, and is always willing to step forward to do what is asked of him without complaint or protest. He also has a witty sense of humor, and is always willing to have a conversation with a smile. Overall, I can say that Robert adds much to our community with his presence, and I am beyond excited to see him be nominated this week for this recognition. I can think of no better student than him to end our Winter-Term Academic Standout season!”

Please join us in congratulating Robert for his recognition as Academic Standout! We are very proud of you Robert! Nice work as always!
