Student of the Week - January 18, 2017

Congratulations to Max Wonsavage, who was named Student of the Week at Wednesday's all-school meeting. Max is an 11th grade Alpine athlete who comes to KMS from Hanover, NH. He was nominated for this award by Science Department Chair Terri Isidro who stated, "Not only has Max helped out in the Chemistry lab by prepping solutions for labs, but also he regularly helps our class by raising his hand and explaining things to his peers. He does such a good job of thinking about how to talk to his peers about the complicated topics we cover in Chemistry. He really is a gifted teacher in his own right! He's also very polite and responsible in class and shows a great deal of maturity, working hard and setting a good example of safe and productive behavior in the lab and classroom." Terri continued, "In fact, I should clarify...Max doesn't just raise his hand and contribute, he actually stands up and goes to the board and explains things with great poise. It's pretty amazing to see him confidently stand up and lead his classmates in that way!" Math teacher Ted Schaft added, "Max, in his quiet way is consistent, hard-working, bright and helpful." History Department chair Courtney O'Keefe agreed, "Max is one of my strongest students in my U.S. Government and Economics course. He works hard to tackle the sometimes complicated and dry information we learn, always has positive "let's do this" attitude; he participates in all classroom discussions which adds to everyone's understanding of the material being taught, and he turns in some of the best written responses I have seen this year. More than once, he has made me stop and think about something we are learning from a new perspective. And, he is pretty witty, causing more than a fair share of laughs from me when grading his written responses this year. Overall, he is a great student and deserving of this recognition." Way to go, Max!
