It's cross season!

Killington Mountain School's cycling team traveled to Thompson, CT for the KMS Cyclocross Fest. They had what Coach Brad Ramsay called a

"fun and productive weekend."

Ramsay gave a recap of the the race "There was a tough run-up, and a challenging off-camber section. Other than that, road fitness and ability to ride in a pack and draft were at a premium. Unusual for CX, most races ended in field sprints for the top five places. Though maybe less technical than many of the racers hoped for, the finishes were certainly exciting for the spectators!

Turner Ramsay, Tyler Clark, Aliza Tobais, PJ Bovaconti, Johannes Stromski, and Leo Kirkpatrick-Baird were the KMS riders for the weekend. Of them, Tyler had the only top-ten finish, just getting nipped at the line in an exciting sprint between fifth and sizth in the UCI Elite Junior Boys on Sunday. With many of the top US Juniors in the field, this was a solid early season result for Tyler.

There was a fun Madison-style relay race Saturday night. PJ and Johannes paired up for a third place finish, with Aliza and Leo paired up and doing well, who finished just off the podium in the co-ed class.

At the prep-school MTB race Wednesday, Turner took first among the A Girls. Tyler, despite breaking a chain, walking to the intersection I was marshalling, and finishing the last lap of the race on my bike, still hung on for second place in the Boy's A.

Wyatt took tenth in the Men's C, Logan 23rd in Men's C.

The team trained at home this weekend, and heads to Dublin school for a MTB race on Wednesday. Tyler and Turner are racing the Boulder Cup in Colorado this coming weekend in their quest for UCI points. The Boulder Cup kicks off a series of consecutive UCI races in Boulder, Midland Ontario, Cincinnati, OH, Louisville, KY, Northampton, MA, and Indianapolis IN, before what will be a much needed Thanksgiving Break."
