We are excited to share that Tyler Hughes will lead the Alpine BOOST Program at Killington Mountain School this December.

“I am truly honored to lead the Alpine BOOST Program at Killington Mountain School. This is an incredible opportunity to help young athletes build a strong foundation, grow into competitive alpine ski racers, and—most importantly—develop a lifelong love for the sport,” said Hughes.

The KMS BOOST Program is an immersive experience for U12-U14 alpine athletes in grades 6–8 who are ready to take the next step in their athletic development. Students experience life at KMS while balancing focused on-snow training with a collaborative academic curriculum. Designed to inspire growth both on and off the mountain, BOOST helps young skiers strengthen their skills, confidence, and curiosity, preparing them for their competitive season and eventual enrollment in our academy program. Head of School Claire Butler shared her enthusiasm for Tyler's leadership, commenting, "With his experience, community roots, and passion for athlete development, Tyler is a natural fit to lead the BOOST Alpine Program. We’re excited for the energy, and expertise he will bring to our athletes this season.” Tyler will be joined by an experienced coaching team including Mikkel Forsthuber and Geoff Hadley, both active coaches in the KSC/KMS Development Programs.

A lifelong skier raised in Killington, Tyler brings more than 35 years of experience in ski racing as an athlete, coach, and official. He began racing in the KMS/KSC Development Program, later attending KMS, Burke, and SMS, and earning titles including Junior Olympic Slalom Champion, multiple VARA Team and Eastern Cup honors, and a spot on the University of Vermont’s Division I Alpine Ski Team. After his competitive career, Tyler became a respected coach and official in Vermont ski racing. He has directed the U14 program at Pico, coached at GMVS, and worked across multiple age levels in the KSC/KMS Development Program—most recently leading our Future Stars Program for the past seven years. He is fully certified by U.S. Ski & Snowboard and holds multiple coaching and officiating credentials. Tyler also collaborates closely with the Mid Vermont Council and VARA to strengthen Vermont ski racing and ensure a world-class experience for local athletes. Tyler and his wife, Hilary, are longtime members of the KMS community, and their three sons are all ski racers in the program.

A few spots remain in the December BOOST Program, December 1-20, 2025. Inquire here, or email Robin Debiase, Assistant Head of School for External Affairs, Admissions, and Advancement with your interest. rdebiase@killingtonmountainschool.org
