Freestyle athletes head to Italy for Junior Worlds

The KMS Freestyle Team will once again be well represented at the Junior World Championships. Alex Lewis, Ian Beauregard and Kalman Heims have been selected as part of a four man team representing the USA in Freestyle Moguls and Dual Moguls. The team will travel to Chiesa Valmalenco, Italy on April 5 and 6 for the JWC events.

Freestyle Program Director Kris Pepe commented, "Junior Worlds has been a target of theirs all year and all three of them qualifying makes it so much more special."

Junior World Cup Team qualification is based on the top two juniors on the 2019 NorAm Tour standings, as well as the 2018 & 2019 U.S. Junior National Champions. Heims, Beauregard and Lewis finished the NorAm tour as the top three juniors in the overall standings. With only two spots awarded to the NorAm tour finishes, the team needed a victory at the 2019 US Junior Nationals to secure all three qualifications. Kalman Heims stepped up with a victory at the U.S. Juniors to ensure himself and his teammates qualification to Junior World Championships!

Pepe shared, "We drew up this plan the fall when we first saw the Junior Worlds criteria. It's pretty surreal they that they pulled it off. These boys have worked extremely hard over the past 12 months, and they have had an incredible season as a result. I could not be more proud and I can't wait to see what they do over in Italy."

Best of luck to the group in Italy!
