Student of the Week - December 20, 2016
Congratulations to Kalman Heims, who was named Student of the Week at Wednesday's all-school meeting. Kalman is an 11th grade Freestyle athlete who comes to KMS from Westborough, MA. He was nominated for this award by math/science teacher Ted Schaft, who shared, "I'd like to nominate Kalman Heims. I have him for two classes and he has a pleasant quiet demeanor, does his work eagerly, without fanfare and works independently on very difficult material. He stays with or ahead of his class at his home school with neither carrot nor stick to motivate him." History teacher Ian Groezinger seconded the nomination, adding "I will also nominate Kalman Heims. Over the course of his time here he has constantly shown up to class prepared and ready to discuss the material. Additionally, his grades have been stellar. While traveling he still turned in a high quality DBQ on Nativisim as well as a test on the Industrial Revolution." English teacher Debbie Franks agreed, "Kalman does first-rate, on-time work even while traveling. He's brought a perceptive eye to the difficulties of Faulkner and appreciates nuances of characters in The Great Gatsby, expressing himself well in writing and in discussions." Nice job, Kalman!
