KMS Freestyle continues tradition of success

Killington Mountain School Freestyle Program Director Kris Pepe checked in with a weekend recap, affirming that KMS Freestyle athletes achieved competitive success at all levels of the sport over the weekend

Pepe pointed out that KMS BOOST athletes were quick to put their extra training to good use this weekend. On Saturday, Kassidy Lynch took first overall at the Empire State Games in Lake Placid, NY. Kasssidy had a busy weekend, because on Sunday, she found the podium again with a third place finish in Sunapee, NH. Kassidy was joined on the podium by her BOOST teammate Ray Lamlein. Lamlein took the with overall victory while BOOST teammates Tyler Damore, Conner Dinn and Trae Damore all landed in the top 15 overall.

Most of the KMS mogul team was in Stratton over the weekend for the Rod Baird Memorial Classic. Ian Buearegard and BOOST athlete Sabrina Cass led the field with overall victories in Saturday's single mogul competition. The team once again showed it's depth, with six other KMS athletes landing in the top ten overall.

Sunday's Dual Moguls competition saw more of the same. KMS athletes filled five of the top eight spots on the men's side, and two in the women's. This time Spencer Belsky was the top finisher for KMS with second place overall.

Missing from the Eastern regional scene this weekend was Hannah Soar. Hannah was in Deer Valley, Utah competing in her first ever World Cup competitions. Hannah had starts in Single moguls on Thursday and Dual Moguls on Saturday in the Visa Freestyle International. Hannah had strong finishes both days, finishing 19th in singles and 15 in duals, losing to world number one, Brittney Cox. Pepe commented, "Weekends like this make me incredibly proud of the program as a whole. On Saturday we saw athletes win B events, A events and then went home to watch Hannah ski against the top girl in the world on TV. It's incredibly cool."

This weekend, Killington will host the first Freestyle Nor Am of the year. Hannah Soar, Kalman Heims, Alex Lewis and Cam Robinson are scheduled to compete on both Saturday and Sunday.
