Student of the Week - Mazie Hayden

Congratulations to Mazie Hayden, who was named Student of the Week at Wednesday's all-school meeting. Mazie is a 12th grade SkiCross athlete who comes to KMS from Pittsfield, VT. She was nominated for this award by science/math faculty member Allison Resnick who shared, "Coming into this school year, Mazie made it quite clear to me that Calculus and Physics were going to be very hard for her because she 'hates math.' Although she may still not like math or physics, she is killing it in these classes, as well as in Anatomy and Physiology. She just earned a 100% on her calculus test and did very well on her physics test, as well! Mazie is not afraid to ask questions when she doesn't understand a concept, and that ism a great quality to have in a student."

English Department Chair Alex Crivici commented, "Mazie is an exceptional student. Her ability to analyze a text and make connections that resonate with her personally exemplifies her strength as a student of English. Mazie facilitates discussions with her classmates that are meaningful and enriching. She also engages and encourages her classmates to share their ideas. Mazie is a talented writer and does not shy away from being challenged. She takes her class time and assignments seriously but still manages to have a laid back and fun demeanor. I really enjoy being Mazie's teacher. She truly exhibits all of the components of RILER while also demonstrating the delicate balance of excellence in athletics, with excellence in academics. Way to go, Mazie!"

World Languages co-chair Claudia Revenko-Bowen added, "Mazie truly exemplifies what it means to be an independent and determined student. She continually takes responsibility for her own learning, boldly tackling the many challenges of being a student-athlete, and always showing up with a positive 'can do' attitude. Both in Spanish and Globalization, she is doing an exemplary job, while concurrently finding time to work on her college admission documents, and preparing for the upcoming SAT Spanish and Biology subject examinations. ¡Excelente trabajo Mazie!"

Nice work, Mazie!
