Student Name: Evan Cavallaro

Please join the KMS community in its recognition of Winter-Term Student-Athlete Evan Cavallaro as this week’s Black Bear Community Award recipient! Evan is a 10th Grade U16 Alpine athlete, who comes to KMS from Middlebury, Connecticut. This week we are proud to recognize Evan for this special recognition, which was started several years ago. The Black Bear Community Award was created as a way to recognize KMS student-athletes, who go above and beyond through both action and word for their school community. These individuals embrace a genuine passion for community, seeking without thought of recognition or award to leave a place better than they found it. This award is nominated by the KMS faculty, and is awarded when warranted.

Coach Michael Hirschbuhl was the first to put forth his nomination for Evan this week. Michael states that Evan is an excellent choice for this recognition due to his positive, can-do attitude. This attitude, which Evan brings with him both on and off the hill, impacts all those around him for the better, making both the classroom as well as the hill a positive place for all those involved. Full-Term Math and Science Teacher Adam Boshart also recognizes Evan for our community award, specifically for his willingness and ambition to try new things. This is specifically related to Evan recently getting his elbows dirty via our kitchen with his creation of tasty desserts, which were shared with the community. Sources amongst the community can confirm not only were Evan’s maple cream puffs with salted caramel topping delicious and a HUGE hit with the community, but it was obvious that Evan was proud to have done such a thing for others.

And lastly, Social Studies Department Co-Chair and Advisory Coordinator Courtney O’Keefe also put forth her own reflections of Evan as a community member. Courtney reflects that Evan is a supportive and kind member of the community, often helping others out both in and out of the classroom. He is an amazing individual to speak with, mindful of his impact on others, is driven to selflessly aid others, and one of the first to step forward with regards to anything without being asked.

The KMS community is proud to recognize Evan for our Black Bear Award! Thank you, Evan!
