Cyclocross kickoff!
Cyclocross Season is ON!
The KMS Cycling Team headed down to Hartford, CT in September to get some early-season race experience and to check out the venue for 2017 Cyclocross Nationals. Coach Brad Ramsay shared, “It has lots of potential, with sand sections, off-cambers, climbs, descents, and plenty of terrain to build a fun course!”
The team did well, with Tyler Clark and Vivien Rindisbacher kicking off the day by taking the top two spots on the podium in the Men’s Cat 3/4 Race. Johannes was close behind, followed by Leo Kirkpatrick-Baird (who had some rotten luck with not one but two flats!).
In the women’s race, Turner Ramsay took off at the gun and held an early lead in the Women’s Pro/1/2 race, before being chased down by the field and eventually finishing in fourth place. Aliza Tobias made her debut in the CX world with a solid ride Sunday. She sprained her ankle late in the race, but certainly showed her potential to improve quickly!
Closing out the day with the Men’s Pro/1/2 race, Tyler Clark had an impressive race, riding in the lead group of three riders for most of the race and taking the third spot on the podium. Vivien, Johannes, and Sebastian Logue all finished in the top 20. Of note, the official in the bike pit during the pro race mentioned that Johannes had the smoothest dismounts/remounts he had seen all day!
Next up, the team heads down to Trexlertown for Nittany CX!
