Solid training and awesome adventures in Zermatt
Killington Mountain School’s Freestyle team has just reached the end of a very successful two week camp in Zermatt, Switzerland. The international mogul skiing community gathers in Zermatt every October as its mogul course is currently the only one built and in use around the world. The KMS athletes trained side-by-side with the best mogul skiers in the world. Freestyle Program Director and Head Coach Kris Pepe shared, “It’s an amazing opportunity for our athletes to share this venue with World and Olympic Champions. Teams in attendance included the U.S. Ski Team, the Canadian National Team, and the Swiss, Japanese, South Korean, Italian, Swedish, French, German, Russian, and Australian teams, along with many others.”
Pepe continued, “We enjoyed great weather and good snow on an extremely challenging course. The Zermatt training project is a key component in our preparation for this upcoming season. Days include skiing until 2 p.m., lunch (sometimes in Italy), and then afternoon sport. We have also been hiking to explore the valley on our days off.”
KMS looks forward to welcoming back the Freestyle team and to watching them compete this season!
