Success at Stratton for KMS Freestyle
Freestyle Program Director Kris Pepe just returned from Stratton with the Freestyle crew who had a successful weekend of competition: "The weather just won't give the Freestyle Team a break this year! This past weekend, we were in Stratton for an Eastern Freestyle event. High winds closed most of the mountain on Saturday, and the scheduled Single Moguls event was postponed. This meant the Mogul Team would face a double header on Sunday, with Single Moguls in the morning, followed by Dual Moguls in the afternoon."
Pepe continued, "The Stratton venue proved challenging and there were an excessive number of crashes in both the Singles and Duals. The Killington crew pushed through the day and into the evening, with the contest running until nearly 5:00PM."
Highlights included KMS BOOST athletes, Jack Patrone taking ninth in the singles (his first ever top ten) and fourth in the Duals. Jack also came away with the victory in the U13 category. Middle Schoolers Mike Dinn, Conner Dinn, Jamie Arquit and Mike Rothburg all skied song runs and finished in the top 30 overall.
Leading the KMS ladies, Taylor Getz came away victorious in the Duals competition. This was her fist outright victory of the season. Nice work!
The team will be home this weekend for the Killington Klassic. Be sure to come out and cheer for KMS!
